Export Documentation

Completing a customs declaration is complicated and you may need software. So you may want to get someone to deal with customs for you. At Staffordshire Chambers we have spent the last 18 months training staff to ensure that we are ready to act as Customs Agents for companies who need a reliable, trusted partner to clear their goods through customs and exporting their manufacturing goods.

It is anticipated that there will be an additional 400 million Customs Declarations required each year at a cost to industry of £13bn as a result of leaving the EU and the Customs Union. Many, many companies who trade solely with the EU will not have the knowledge, software or capacity to deal with the new customs regime. So with less than six months to go before the end of the Transition Period it is imperative that companies start to understand the level of complexity and what will be required to ensure that trade with the EU remains uninterrupted. We are well placed to handle all your customs declarations, but we need to start working with you now. A process has to be established. Your business needs to be ‘set up’ on the customs software and work needs to be done to ascertain the correct commodity codes are being used. This takes time so even if you do not require the service at the moment it is vital to have the process in place.

Sustainable Development Goals

Tuesday, 27 April 2021 by Olly Buxton
Idea

No matter how large or small, and regardless of industry, all companies can do their bit to save the planet.

While the scale and scope of the global goals is unprecedented, the fundamental ways that business can contribute remain unchanged. The UN Global Compact asks companies to first do business responsibly and then pursue opportunities to solve societal challenges through business innovation and collaboration.

Global challenges – ranging from climate, water and food crises, to poverty, conflict and inequality – are in need of solutions that the private sector can deliver, representing a large and growing market for business innovation. In the rush to transform business models and systems for the future, integrity and values will have a huge role to play. For companies wanting to advance the SDG agenda, the job starts by acting responsibly – incorporating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact widely into strategies and operations, and understanding that good practices or innovation in one area cannot make up for doing harm

Mediation Services

Resolve your business disputes today through The Chamber Mediation Service.

Disputes can be incredibly stressful, time-consuming and costly if taken to Court. Mediation involves an independent third party, called a mediator, who helps both sides to reach an agreement meaning that you won’t need to go to Court. Because of this Mediation is considerably cheaper and faster.

It also helps to maintain business relationships. There are occasionally disagreements between businesses where both sides want to reach an agreement and maintain an ongoing working relationship. Mediation is a proven way to successfully resolve the issue while maintaining the relationship.

The purpose of this innovative scheme is to help businesses resolve their commercial disputes quickly and cheaply. The cost of the mediation will be about the same as filing a claim and when successful, saves the businesses the cost of instructing a solicitor. Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce is partnering with law firms across the region to deliver
this scheme and Else Solicitors is delighted to be one of the founding partners of the scheme.

The Chamber Mediation Service recognises the opportunity for businesses with or without lawyers at an early stage to engage in the Mediation process to attempt resolution.

If you have a dispute or are involved in a dispute and you wish to use this Service please call 01782 202222.
